Barbara Tyler Yates

Barbara Ann Tyler Yates was born on July 27, 1948, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to Mr. Eula and Mrs. Ruthie Mae Marshall Tyler. She was educated in the Decatur County Public School System, graduating Hutto High School in 1966.

A year after graduation, Barbara moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked as a Dietician at Massachusetts General Hospital. She met her loving sweetheart Vernon Yates, and they were married on July 11, 1968. Barbara graduated with a Certificate in Electronics and in the early 1970's, became an employee of Raytheon Corporation. She was one of the many employees who worked on the Patriot missiles for the U. S. Department of Defense.

Barbara had many family and friends who loved her and whom she loved. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Barbara relished shopping, cooking, traveling and Gunsmoke (LOL).

Barbara departed her earthly life on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Ulysees Tyler and Arthur Wilcox, and her sister Jeanette Tyler.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her husband Vernon Yates; two children Rebecca Ferreira (Victor) and Vernon Yates Jr. (Alicia); special niece Michelle Tyler Francis; five grandchildren Lorenzo Cotten Jr., Aaliyah Mohammed, Karina Yates, Faithe Yates, and Kyle Thomas; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law Vivian Lloyd of North Haven, Connecticut; two brothers-in-law Richard D. Yates (Pam) and Kenneth E. Yates (Delores), both of South Carolina; and many, many more family and friends.
