Betty Loraine Newbold was born on December 27, 1935, to the late Elbert McMath and Irene Jackson Morton in Bainbridge, Georgia.
As a young girl, she attended Miami-Dade County public schools. In 1957, Ms. Newbold graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School (Miami, Florida). In 1959, she received a College Diploma in Beauty Culture from Caesor’s University of Cosmetology (Miami, Florida). At the age of 19, she gave her life to THE LORD and became a member of the Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful member.
In 1958, Betty was united in Holy Matrimony to Roy Newbold Jr. in West Hollywood, Florida. In 2013, after giving 35 years of dedication, work and service to the mentally challenged, she retired from Ann Stork Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ms. Newbold was a true blessing and inspiration to many people. She devoted her life to volunteering, helping, caring and having compassion for others. Ms. Newbold will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Although she never had any biological children, Ms. Newbold leaves behind Glenda Jones, Javan Walker, Janile Mingo and Wilberto alegria Jr., to whom she was a Second Mother/Grandmother, along with a host of cousins and friends.
