Today we celebrate the life of Carolyn W. Brown, a loving soft-spoken woman, who cherished her family extensively.
Carolyn was born September 15, 1942, in Bealsville, Florida. She was the firstborn of the late Arthur and Audrey Wright. At an early age, she received CHRIST, joining Bealsville Church of God.
Carolyn began her primary education at William Glover School in Bealsville. She continued her secondary education at Marshall High School, graduating in 1960. She then attended Bethune-Cookman College, attaining a degree in Elementary Education in 1964.
Carolyn met the late Larry Brown, and the two were married in 1964. To this union were born two children, Cynthia LaShawn and Kelvin Rudolph.
Her first teaching job was at her alma mater William Glover. She later became employed at Sulphur Springs Elementary School in Tampa, Florida. Carolyn loved teaching. Her skilled teaching abilities left an impact on students of all ages, including kindergarteners to sixth graders. She took pride in going above and beyond for her students, joyfully providing whatever extras were needed for the well being of her classroom. After a thirty-plus year career in education, Carolyn retired from Sulphur Springs Elementary.
Continuing her quest for spiritual enrichment throughout life, she joined Ministry of Spirit and Truth International in Tampa in 2002. Mother Brown attended faithfully and worked diligently until she moved to Bainbridge, Georgia, in 2018. And even after her move, she remained a faithful contributor to there and Bealsville Church of God to help further the communities’ value. Like her mother, she was a giver at heart!
Carolyn immensely enjoyed family, friends and her community. She patiently gathered her nieces and anyone else available to teach them one of her favorite hobbies: crocheting–a skill she naturally possessed!
Mother Brown departed her earthly life on Monday, August 22, 2022, at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her son Kelvin Brown.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her sweet memories a loving daughter, Cynthia LaShawn Close, and son-in-law Kregg Close; daughter-in-law, Vicki Brown; grandsons, Otis Williams (Majaii) and Joshua Ruffin; granddaughter, Emily Brown; great grands: KeyShawn Williams, Amari Williams, and Olani Williams; siblings: Rosalyn Wright Davis, Arthur L.
