CHARITY "CHAT" SMITH THOMAS was born to the late Mamie Bell Smith and James Lewis Smith Sr. on December 2, 1962. She received her education in the Decatur and Leon County School Systems. "Chat" became a Christian at an early age in life. Charity was united in Holy Matrimony to Toney Thomas Sr. To their union three children were born. Charity worked as a cook in many restaurants, including Western Sizzler, Shoney's, and Food Market. She also was a cook at the police academy. "Chat" enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Charity departed her earthly life on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida. She was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Thomas; one sister, Mary Swatts; one brother, James Lewis Smith Jr.; and a devoted friend, Johnny Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Antonio Thomas (Stephanie) and Toney Thomas Jr. (Quwertia), both of Tallahassee, Florida; eight grandchildren: Antoneshia Thomas, Tyanona Thomas, Kerstine Thomas, Sandricka Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Khloe Walker, Ronnell Moss, and Kyteria Thomas; her father, James Lewis Smith Sr. of Albany, Georgia; two sisters, Dorothy Goss (Donalson Jr.) of Fowlstown, Georgia and April Lefore (Ron) of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Jamie Keith of Albany, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Ira Swatts of Bainbridge, Georgia; three devoted cousins: Rosemary Bell, Mary Benton, both of Tallahassee, Florida, and George Robinson of Gainesville, Florida; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends.
