Charles Edward Jeffery Sr.

Mr. Charles Edward Jeffery Sr. passed away peacefully at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia, on Friday, August 9, 2024. He was born April 7, 1934, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to the late Reverend H. B. Jeffery and Bertha Lee Johnson Jeffery.

Charles became a member of First African Missionary Baptist Church in West Bainbridge at an early age, where he served on the Usher Board for many years.

Charles attended the public schools of Decatur County, where he graduated Hutto High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. During his tour of duty, he was stationed at several overseas locations. He proudly served his country and would often share stories of his experiences.

After his military service, Charles returned home to Bainbridge and began his career at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers. He retired after many years of employment.

Uncle “Bo Dee”, as he was affectionately called, loved to decorate and paint his home with many bright colors. This was his hobby, along with going to various thrift stores to find unique items. He would always include toys for the grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews; he had to offer food or any type of toys before you left his house. Charles possessed a kind and generous spirit and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister Anna Mae Jeffery Rogers, his brother Willie James Jeffery, and his son Charles Jeffery Jr.

Uncle Charles is survived by his son, Jerry L. Jeffery; his grandchildren, Jahmar Jeffery and Ninti Jeffery; a devoted friend of many years, Christine Williams; his sister-in-law, Carrie Jeffery; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
