Brother Charles Edward Kelly, affectionately known as “Crow”, was born October 3, 1949, in Climax, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Leo and Mrs. Luevenia Hayes Kelly.
Charles received his education in the Decatur County School System, graduating Hutto High School in Bainbridge, Georgia, with the Class of 1967. After graduation, he attended Thomas Area Technical School in Thomasville, Georgia. On August 27, 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his tour of duty, he was a Vehicle Mechanic in Transportation. Some of the bases at which Charles was stationed included Fort Polk, Louisiana; Fort Benning, Georgia; and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He received the National Defense Service Medal. On March 20, 1972, he was Honorably Discharged from the Army.
“Crow” accepted CHRIST as SAVIOR in his life. He was a member of Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church at the time of his death.
On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Charles departed his earthly life at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. “Crow” will be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends.
The memories of his life will be cherished by his children: Charles “Toot” Lowe (Shonda) of Bainbridge, Georgia, Charles “Tony” Kelly (Tripolie) of Orlando, Florida, Larry Clemons, and Valerie Adams (Darrell), both of Bainbridge; his stepchildren: Christy Battle-Baker (Tyrone) of Tallahassee, Florida, Willie Battle (Nekisha) of Jacksonville, Florida, and LaRon Hamilton (Kay) of Fowlstown, Georgia; his grandchildren: Makia Anderson, Antonio Kelly, Tanisha Gray, Aaron Calloway, Deronta Porter, Tevon Moore, and Tamiya Kelly; his great grandchildren: Alani Benjamin, Dasian Edwards, Empress Rauls, Royalty Calloway, Ariyanna Calloway, and Reign Calloway; his siblings: Robert “Buddy” Kelly of El Mirage, Arizona, Walter “Tony” Kelly (Carolyn) of Meigs, Georgia, Gerilene “Sapp” Murphy, Ruth Baulkmon (Charlie), Brenda Akins (Edward), and Donnie Kelly, all of Bainbridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
