Today, we commemorate the passing of Sister Debbie Tynette Jones. Debbie entered Eternal Rest on February 19, 2024, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.
Born on the seventh of December in 1963, Debbie was the daughter of Charlie James and Annie Maude Jones of Bainbridge, Georgia.
Debbie became a member of Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church at a young age and remained an active member until her passing.
In 1982, Debbie Tynette and James Turner Benton Sr. were united in marriage. The two were blessed with four sons: James “Turner” Jr., Joshua Lee, Xavier O’Neil, and Erick VaShaun. She played a maternal role for many, which still holds a lasting impact on her community, and was adored as the “The Mother of Fleming Street”.
Debbie was a member of the Bainbridge High School Class of 1981. She lived a life of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 35 years. She was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed watching sports.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Charlie James and Annie Maude, along with her son Joshua Lee. She is survived by her devoted sons James “Turner” Jr., Xavier O'Neil (Arie) and Erick VaShaun, as well as her grandchildren Jayla Catrice Jefferson, Kayla Green and Janiyah Carridis; a loving and dedicated sister and best friend, Melbah Andrews (John); nephews Jeramy, Nicolas, Keith and Robert Jr.; a niece Kimberly; a loyal friend, Arnetha Pearson; along with great nieces and nephews, as well as family and friends.
