Dexter Stanley Evans, affectionately known as “Stan Da Man”, “A Man of My Caliber” and “GOP”, was born on January 1, 1964, in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was the son of the late Lula Mae Lee and Lonnie W. Evans. Stan was raised by his grandmother, the late Mary “Sweet” Lee.
At an early age, he confessed CHRIST and joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cyrene, Georgia. Later in life, he joined First African Missionary Baptist Church in West Bainbridge, where he sang in the Choir. He worked for many years at Stone’s Home Centers until his health failed.
Stan attended the public schools of Decatur County, graduating Bainbridge High School in the Class of 1983. He lived his life to the fullest, cherishing every moment. He was kind, fearless, funny, generous, and he loved to sing.
Stan departed this walk of life for his Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 7, 2024. In addition to his parents and grandmother, two siblings, Joe A. Bell and Areminta Evans Gordon, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, twelve siblings: Yvonne D. Marshall, Mary (Wayne) Barnes, Joyce Hawkins, Annett Evans, Juan Anderson, Sheila Keys, TeRandy (Kelisha) Evans, Danny Evans, Tamyka Evans, Ezra Bell, Kay (Celeste) Bell, and Morrell (Barbara) Bell; a devoted stepmother, Eva Pearl Evans; a dear friend, Dorothy Kelly; a special cousin, Brian Lee; very special friends: Steve (Tara) Brown, Kelvin (Hattie) Scott, Larry Williford, Mary Hudson, Wendell Cox, Janice Jones, James Perkins, Dwight (Gloria) Jacobs, Timothy (Reca) Flanders; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
