A Time to Be Born:
Emma Mae Washington was born on December 6, 1947, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to the late Robert and Vera Peterson. She was the fourth of six children born to this union.
A Time to Learn:
She attended Hutto High School, where she received her diploma from the Decatur County Public School System in 1965. Also, she received an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science from Valdosta Community College.
A Time to Serve:
Emma accepted CHRIST as her SAVIOR at an early age and became a member of Mount Zuma Missionary Baptist Church. She attended and served faithfully until her health failed.
A Time to Mourn:
On Saturday, May 20, 2023, our HEAVENLY FATHER called Emma to Rest. She was surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Vera, her daughter Cheryl, five brothers and two sisters.
A Time to Love:
Emma leaves to cherish her memories a beloved son, Darrell (Valerie); two grandsons, Darius and Darrell Jr; a granddaughter, Roslyn; three great grandchildren: Darius, Jordyn, and Isla; two sisters, Catherine (Eugene) and Alice; one brother, Jimmy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
