Mother Florence Thomas was born April 15, 1943, in Amsterdam, Georgia, to Ms. Lucy Mae Harris and Mr. Willie Jackson. She attended the public school system of Decatur County, Georgia. Later in life, she met and married Mr. Walter L. Thomas, and the two lovingly nurtured and raised their family.

Mother Thomas departed her earthly life on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Danny Thomas, four grandchildren, one sister, three brothers, and friend-sister Lillie Ruth Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her most precious memories a loving husband of sixty years, Walter L. Thomas of Attapulgus, Georgia; three daughters: Shirley Rogers, Shelia Mango (Tillman), both of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Monica Huntley (Ricky) of Spring, Texas; three sons: Elroy Thomas of Orlando, Florida, Tommie Thomas (Gloria) of Attapulgus, Georgia, and Terry Thomas (Gloria) of Bainbridge, Georgia; thirty grands; fifty-eight great grands; two great-great grands; five sisters: Linda Tripp of Attapulgus, Georgia, Juanita Harris, Luvernia Harris, Tammy Harris, all of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Carolyn Green of Cairo, Georgia; one brother, Reverend Dr. Bobby Powell (Jackie) of Cairo, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Nettie Mae Harris of Attapulgus, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, John Thomas (Lessie) of Attapulgus, Georgia, and James Thomas of Lake Wales, Florida; two special friends, Alice Cooper and Annie Ruth Wilson, both of Attapulgus, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
