Mr. James Edward Baker Jr. was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 8, 1958, to the late James Edward Baker Sr. and Dorothy Mae Baker. He entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, Georgia. James was predeceased by his brothers Donnie Edward Baker, Bobby Eugene Baker and Edward Lee Baker.
James grew up in West Palm Beach, where he attended Twin Lakes High School, graduating in 1976. He continued his education at Florida State University (FSU) and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). After graduating college, James’ love for math and technology opened the doors for employment at prestigious information technology companies that specialized in computer hardware and software and consulting services; he served in the role of project manager. He never met a stranger and often served as a trusted consultant for family and friends on many occasions.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving sister, Genia Elizabeth Baker (Rico Crowell) of Jupiter, Florida; nurturing aunts: Mary McCarter-Tyler of Fowlstown, Georgia, Earlyne Ford of Jakin, Georgia, and Rosie Corine Brown of Bainbridge, Georgia; nieces, Amanda Baker and Amira Baker, both of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a significant other for 36 years, Dr. Joy L. Mobley of Covington, Georgia; extended family brothers, Eugene Bennett and Robert Lee Bennet, both of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
