Richard A. Rollins Jr.

April 29, 1970 — January 23, 2025

Albany, Georgia

Richard Allen Rollins Jr. was born on April 29, 1970, in Albany, Georgia, to Mr. Richard Allen Rollins Sr. and Mrs. Mildred Screen-Rollins. From a young age, he was nurtured in a loving Christian home where faith, kindness and compassion were the cornerstones of his upbringing. Richard was a radiant light in our lives, known for his infectious smile. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a heartfelt story, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

A proud graduate of Monroe High School in 1989, Richard’s passion for football earned him a scholarship to Holmes Junior College in Goodman, Mississippi. Upon returning to Albany, he embraced his calling in faith, and at Monroe Street Church of God in Christ (COGIC), he delivered his initial sermon.

Richard departed his earthly life on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, after a courageous battle with an illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Allen Rollins Sr., and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Rollins Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Screen Sr.

His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy of service, friendship and unwavering loyalty will echo through the lives he touched.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his children–his daughter, D’Ambriele Rollins of Macon, GA, and his son, Cameron Rollins of Albany, GA. As a proud grandfather, he cherished his two grandchildren, Austin and Aumora. Richard is also survived by his sister, Cora D. Rollins of Montgomery, AL, and three brothers: Christopher M. Screen (Jennifer) of Pooler, GA, Reverend Dr. Reginald Screen of Lawrenceville, GA, and Gregory R. Rollins (Gale) of El Paso, TX. Additionally, he is embraced in love by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.

As we gather to honor Richard’s remarkable life, we find comfort in the words of scripture: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4, NKJV). Richard’s spirit will forever inspire us to live with love, joy and compassion, just as he did.
