Ruby Lee Samuel was born on January 16, 1939, in Vidalia, Georgia, to the late Tillie May Vann. She was educated in the Decatur County School System.
Early in life, she met Ozell Samuel, and the two were joined in Holy Matrimony. To their union were born eight children.
A longtime faithful servant of THE LORD, she had a zest for life. Ruby was known for her infectious smile and her loving and cheerful demeanor. She met and showed love to countless individuals by serving in the lunchroom in the Decatur County School System for many years. She most certainly left an indelible mark upon everyone whom she encountered.
Sister Samuel departed her earthly life on February 9, 2025, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her late husband Ozell Samuel Sr., her infant daughter Brenda Samuel, and her grandsons Damian Brown and Markilious Samuel.
Our beloved Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters and three sons: Mary Alice Hadden (David) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ozell Samuel Jr. of Dothan, Alabama, Barbara Samuel Ray of Tallahassee, Florida, Charles Samuel (Vicki) of Powder Springs, Georgia, Larry Samuel, Tameka Thomas, both of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Kimberly Bussing of Gulf Breeze, Florida. Also left to treasure her memory are her grandchildren: April Burrows-Callwood, Krystyn Burrows, Adrian Samuel, Jonathan Samuel, Jacolby Snowden, Quintina Morris, Jasmine Belin, Desmond Thomas, Kamony Dabney, Kaleyah Bussing, and William Bussing Jr. Ruby also had a very special relationship with her sisters-in-love Mary Smart, Iona Cason and Leola Tucker and her brother-in-love Joseph Samuel, all of whom she loved dearly. Additionally, she is embraced in love by a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and classmates, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
