Sister Sharon Lynette Garland was born on December 23, 1966, in Quincy, Florida, to her loving parents, Mr. Willie Ray and Mrs. Annie Grace Carter. Having received her education through the public school system of Decatur County, Georgia, she attended Bainbridge High School.
“Shelly”, as she was affectionately known by her family, was a private person. Most of her time was spent riding and enjoying her husband Tommy.
Sister Sharon departed her earthly life on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Katina Ett Carter.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved and devoted husband, Tommy Garland; two daughters, Shanique Gainey and Alauxus Miller (Donte); three sons: Nakita Lamar Carter, Rodricas Carter, and Steve Carter (Erica); fifteen grandkids; two sisters, Pamela Jones and Fenester Whigham; two brothers, Evay Carter and Learom Carter Jones (Lashia); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
