Willie J. West Sr.

Willie West Sr., “Dap”,–beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend–passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on October 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 15, 1946, in Bainbridge, Georgia, Willie was the son of the late Sara Haire and the late Lt. James West Sr. He was preceded in death, respectively, by his siblings James West Jr., Sandra Gordon, Charles Gordon, Beverly Roberts, Dwight Haire, and Franklin Gordon.

Willie was known for his great sense of style, caring nature, love for highly detailed vehicles, charm and kindness.

He is survived by his children Janice Burns, Frederick West Sr., Gretta Sanders (Harris), Willie West Jr., Dexter Donalson, Grechelle Donalson Blocker, Jimmy Donalson, and April West; thirty-one grandkids; his siblings Louticia McKelven, Raylisa Samuel, Betty Wheeler, Brenda West-Thomas (Carlos) and Bertha Parrish; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He had one child to precede him in death.
